Abstract:
This report (Working Paper #5) examines various aspects of the relationship between adult education and literacy and community colleges in Illinois, from both the state and local perspectives. Illinois is considered a "model of national importance" in this regard because it is the fifth largest state in the nation, it is the largest state in which "adult education services are under the governance of the community college authority...and, the vast majority...of adult education/literacy learners in Illinois are served by community colleges."
