A new project, the Equipped for the Future Teachers' Instructional Practices & Strategies (EFFTIPS (www)) is designed to help adult educators connect with each other online as they implement standards-based instructions in the classroom, and as they seek to improve the success of adult learners in all areas. The site shares short, ready to apply teaching and learning strategies that educators can try out right away or save for the future.

The latest post on their blog, Teacher Stories: Making Connections and Sharing Successes (www), shares an "ah-ha moment" story from an adult education math teacher in Oregon who shares her experience of working with a student who was struggling to understand algebra concepts.

Through hard work, patience and determination, the student was finally able to achieve success. You are also invited respond to current posts and contribute your own "success stories" with colleagues in the field.

The EFFTIPS site offers stories, news and more, including posts on these and other topics:

  • Listening and Speaking
  • Reading & Writing
  • Math
  • Motivation
  • Quality Practices
  • Workforce Prep
  • FAQs on best teaching practices
  • Archives from the past year

Equipped for the Future (www) first began in 1994 as a way to develop a framework for adult learning based on content standards, and is now managed by the Center for Literacy Studies of The University of Tennessee Center for Literacy (www).
