Career Pathways

The Career Pathways Initiative (www), sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, encourages state and local collaborative efforts to develop career pathways at the local level, with a long-term goal of building and implementing a comprehensive career pathways system nationwide.

Launched in June 2010, the focus of the Career Pathways Initiative is on increasing credential attainment and improving access to training opportunities for disadvantaged populations. The initiative initially offered training and support to 11 grantees to help them build model career pathways systems. The result of their work is a diverse collection of resources and materials that is being made available online.

The announcement of these resources (PDF) provides an overview and links to a full range of the resources developed. These include:

  • A list of six key activities for building a Career Pathways system
  • A Project Resources & Career Pathways Graphic Framework
  • An online Career Pathways Community of Practice
  • Train the Trainer slides
  • A Career Pathways Toolkit & Toolset which includes a readiness assessment tool, a program design flow chart, a credential asset mapping tool, and more
  • Recordings of a Career Pathways Webinar Series

These resources are available for free. For more information and resources, please to Career Pathways Resources (www).
