Posted on 10/01/2010

The California Adult Literacy Professional Development Project (CALPRO) is offering a number of online opportunities for professional development this fall, several beginning in October. These are described in the new 2010-11 catalog, now available for download as a PDF file.

Among the Fall 2010 online options are:

  • Facilitated, asynchronous courses on topics such as learning disabilities, lesson planning, and optimizing ESL instructional planning
  • Facilitated workshops in real-time on managed enrollment and teaching critical thinking
  • A Virtual Workroom and companion electronic Community of Practice for multilevel ESL instructors
  • Self-directed, self-paced courses on learning goal setting and orientations for new ABE and ESL teachers

All of these options are available free of charge to adult literacy providers currently working in programs funded by the California Department of Education, Adult Education Office.

To register for facilitated events, visit the statewide professional development calendar. Enrollment is limited and on a first-registered, first-served basis.
