Postsecondary Transitions: NIFL Discussion List Launched

Posted on 12/07/2009

The National Institute for Literacy (NIFL) has recently launched a new discussion list on the critical topic of postsecondary transitions for adults.  The discussion list on postsecondary transition opened on November 23, 2009 and will:

  • share information, strategies, research, expertise and resources related to postsecondary transitions
  • help bridge the gap between traditional  adult education offerings and what research tells us most adult learners need to succeed in postsecondary education
  • cover topics including curriculum and instruction, college readiness, counseling, assessment, program development, career awareness and data collection
  • create an on-going forum to promote sharing among adult education practitioners, administrators, researchers and policymakers working in the field

The discussion list on postsecondary transition is moderated by Ellen Hewett, director of the National College Transition Network at World Education, Inc.   All voices are welcome and diverse experiences and ideas will be shared.  Since launching on November 23, nearly 200 messages have been posted.
