Do you enjoy integrating technology and love learning about tools and need guidance on evidence-based practices? OTAN offers a course that will guide you through a systematic way of considering your students' needs, choosing activities that work for adult learners based on research, and selecting tech tools to tie together needs and activities to fulfill them. You will walk away with strategic routines to use in your instruction and will network with like-minded adult educators who are EdTech enthusiasts from across the state!

Course commitment:

Participants can expect to spend two to five hours per week working toward creating routines for your classroom. Along with coursework, participants will meet for four sessions including a kickoff. Office hours will also be scheduled on an “as-needed” basis. The course culminates with a Show and Tell Showcase in which participants present two sustainable educational technology routines and share their successes.

What types of certificates are there?

  1. Achievement - Attend all the live sessions and complete all activities for the live sessions.
  2. Leader - Complete all achievement requirements and submit 2 routine templates
  3. Innovator - Complete all leader requirements plus implement at least one routine, reflect on its implementation, and revise it to best meet your needs.

What tech skills do I need?

  1. You should have access to a computer or laptop. We prefer not to use tablets or phones as the Canvas app behaves differently on different types of devices.
  2. You should know how to navigate the Internet.
  3. Prior experience with Canvas is desirable. We can work with you on using Canvas if you need, but that will add more to your workload. (i.e., you will need to spend more than 23 hours)

The world is bombarded with technology. Quite often we think we should use a lot of different tools in our classes. This course will show teachers how to use adult education-based research to determine a technology tool they can use in a variety of ways in their classes. One tool has a lot of capacity to use with different content.
