The California Adult Literacy Professional Development Project (CALPRO External link opens in new window or tab) in conjunction with the California Department of Education (CDE) is seeking nominations and applications for the 2014-15 California Adult Education Leadership Institute (the Institute). We are seeking aspiring and new administrators (defined as three or fewer years) for the Institute. This is an opportunity for your organization to nominate an aspiring or new administrator from your adult education program to attend. For the 2014-15 year we will accept up to 20 nominations for participation in the one-year Institute. Priority registration will be given to nominees with the most recent appointment date to their administrative position.

Join the more than 600 California adult education administrators who have participated in this program since its inception in 1985. Institute participants have numerous opportunities for networking with seasoned and new adult education administrators. The Institute covers topics and skills that new adult education administrators need to perform their jobs effectively including:

  • Setting the Context for Adult Education Tomorrow,
  • Leading During Turbulent Times,
  • Data Analysis and Data-Based Decision Making,
  • Fiscal and Personnel Management,
  • Public Relations and Program Marketing,
  • Alternative Funding,
  • Instructional Leadership and much more.

The Institute will be held over a total of six days. Following are the scheduled dates:

  • December 11-12, 2014-the two-day winter session, to be held in Sacramento, California;
  • February 23-24, 2015—the two-day spring session, to be held in Fontana, California (near Ontario Airport); and
  • June 15-16, 2015—the two-day summer session, to be held in Sacramento, California.
