Call for Proposals: International Reading Association 2013 Annual Convention

The International Reading Association (IRA (www)) Annual Convention will be held in San Antonio, Texas, in April 19-22, 2013. The Adult Education and Family Literacy Special Interest Group (AEFL-SIG (www)), a special interest group of the IRA, invites all interested parties to submit a proposal to participate in a panel that will focus on the utilization of social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, You Tube, LinkedIn and/or Pinterest, in Adult Education programs and classrooms.
The Interest Group is looking for adult education teachers to submit a proposal to participate in this panel if you and/or your adult education program are currently involved in any or all of the following kinds of activities:
- Using social media to provide instruction to adult learners (including ABE/ASE, Family Literacy, and/or ESOL)
- Implementing research-based techniques as you use social media with adult learners
- Providing opportunities for adult learners to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, collaborators and communicators while learning how to use social media tools
- Currently conducting, or planning to conduct, research that involves using social media applications that are engaging and interactive to adult learners
