California Adult Education Leadership Institute

The California Adult Literacy Professional Development Project (CALPRO) in conjunction with the California Department of Education (CDE) is seeking nominations and applications for the 2014 California Adult Education Leadership Institute (the Institute). For the 2014 year up to 20 nominations for participation in the Institute are being accepted.

Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Title II funded programs are invited to apply for the 2014 California Adult Education Leadership Institute and join the ranks of the more than 600 California adult education administrators who have participated in this program since its inception in 1985. Institute participants have numerous opportunities for networking with experienced and new adult education administrators. The Institute covers topics and skills that new and aspiring adult education administrators need to perform their jobs effectively including:

  • Setting the Context for Adult Education Tomorrow,
  • Collaborations and Partnerships,
  • Leading During Turbulent Times,
  • Data Analysis and Data-Based Decision Making,
  • Fiscal and Personnel Management,
  • Program Marketing,
  • Alternative Funding, and
  • Instructional Leadership.

The Institute will be held over a total of five days. Following are the scheduled dates:

  • March 27–28, 2014–the two–day spring session, to be held in Sacramento, California; and
  • June 9–11, 2014–the three–day summer session, to be held in Sacramento, California.

Completed applications must be received in the CALPRO office via mail or fax by February 19, 2014. CALPRO will notify selected participants and their nominators by February 28, 2014.
