Posted on 04/24/2013

Common Core State Standards

After a nine-month process that examined the Common Core State Standards from the perspective of adult education, the Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE External link opens in new window or tab) has released College and Career Readiness (CCR) Standards for Adult Education. This 150-page work is the result of a nine-month process and was funded to provide a set of manageable yet significant CCR standards that reflect broad agreement among subject matter experts in adult education. The report discusses what is desirable for adult students to know to be prepared for the rigors of postsecondary education and training.

The report was written by Susan Pimentel and prepared by MPR, Associates, Inc. for OVAE. It is available for download on the OTAN Web site and from Literacy Information and Communication System (LINCS External link opens in new window or tab).
