National College Transition Network 2009 Conference Invitation

The National College Transition Network (NCTN) announces its third annual national conference on Effective Transitions in Adult Education. The conference will be held on November 16-17, 2009, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island.
The focus of the NCTN conference will be on strategies and promising practices that help adult learners succeed in postsecondary education and training. NCTN provides support to ABE programs and state agencies to help strengthen ABE-to-college transition services as it brings together educators, professional development providers, policy makers and researchers to meet the needs of GED, ASE and ESOL graduates and other non-traditional learners.
The conference will feature Dr. William Sedlacek, Professor Emeritus of Education at the University of Maryland, College Park. His keynote speech with be "College Success for Adult Students Using Non-cognitive Variables." Dr. Sedlacek is the senior author of Racism in American education: A model for change (with Brooks) and has published extensively in the areas of racism, sexism, college admissions, advising, and employee selection.
