Looking for ideas for writing or discussion topics? OTAN has posted
a new classroom
activity based on the NPR radio series, This
I Believe. These are short, 5 minute essays that are read by
the author on a variety of topics related to what they believe
about life. They are thought-provoking, and appropriate for ABE,
ASE and higher levels of ESL....

In this workshop teachers will learn to use free video editing software that
comes with Microsoft Windows to create classroom video projects. These can include

Discovery Education Streaming's Assignment Builder with
Blair Roy
Create an entire assignment including links to streaming video,
other web sites, audio files etc. Students are guided step by
step to complete an assignment entirely online if you like. Spend
an hour learning how to create an online assignment within DE
streaming.

Web Sites to Teach Math with Leila Rosemberg
This workshop will walk participants through a number of Web sites
appropriate for both instruction and reinforcement of math concepts.

Resources for ESL/El Civics Teachers
Location: Eureka Adult
School
Based on "Internet Resources for Adult Ed. Teachers," the ESL/EL
Civics version is designed for programs and staff currently funded by the
English Literacy and Civics Education grant or who teach ESL. The session
focuses on the teaching resources available on the OTAN Web site with ESL/EL
Civics materials as the main focus. The hands-on class features tools and
ideas on how to use the Internet in the classroom, online ESL and Citizenship
lesson plans and access to ESL/EL Civics teaching reference materials.

Web Pages with Google Page Creator

Participants will learn how to develop Web pages using tools from
Google, including entering text, creating links between their
pages and to other Web sites, and adding pictures/clipart. They
will also be exploring the use of Google Blogs.
